OUR HISTORY
The Scarborough Rifle Club (SRC) was founded in 1965 as a junior's Club. It operated at various Scarborough locations, prior to moving in 1975 into the Mid-Scarborough Recreation Center (now called the Don Montgomery Community and Recreation Center). At that time the Club expanded its scope and opened its doors to adult member as well. The club's well ventilated and illuminated 20 yard indoor range was one of the finest in Canada. This lasted until 2008 when Mayor Miller’s campaign against handgun violence forced publicly owned ranges to be closed. The SRC currently operates out of a smaller private range until other facilities can be arranged.
The SRC is affiliated with the Canadian Shooting Sports Association and the Shooting Federation of Canada and has access to the programs and resources available through these organizations.
INSTRUCTION, TRAINING & COMPETITION
The Club provides a variety of programs, geared towards recreational shooters, that make up the majority of its members. It also plays a major role in developing competitive shooters, who successfully compete at various skill levels (Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, Master) in local, provincial, national and international matches.
The SRC also trains its own Range Officers, who oversee all shooting activities on the range and are responsible for ensuring the safety of its members. The Club's policy of "SAFETY FIRST" is strictly adhered to, resulting in an accident-free record since the establishment of the Club. Members interested in obtaining Officials' credentials can also join programs offered by the Club and acquire appropriate certifications.
Between October and March we offer a regular Coaching Program, which provides an opportunity for new members to learn the basics of good marksmanship. It also allows the more experienced shooters to improve their knowledge of the shooting sports and to refine their skills.
Our new members are encouraged to join various Awards Programs, sponsored by the Club and by the Shooting Federation of Canada. Attractive crests are awarded for various levels of achievement in these programs. Club competitions, provincial and national matches offer ample opportunity for our shooters to compete against equally ranked opponents and win medals, plaques and trophies.
MEMBERSHIP & EQUIPMENT
Club membership is open to anyone 12 years and older. Juniors (12-17 years) require the permission of their parent or guardian to join. Every applicant, prior to being accepted as a member of SRC, must attend a firearms safety course and pass practical test. This is to prove the applicant's understanding of club safety rules and the principles of safe firearm handling.
Club rifles (regularly maintained by our own gunsmith), shooting mats and scopes are available at no additional charge. A small nominal fee is charged for targets and other items used on the range. Members are also allowed (at no charge) to use Club equipment in competitions held at other locations.
Adult members, who are legally authorized to possess and transport unrestricted firearms, are allowed to bring and use their own equipment on Club premises.
Only .22 calibre, single shot, rim fire rifles, air rifles and air pistols can be used on our range. The use of hand guns, centre fire or auto-loading rifles is not permitted.

Currently our members can enjoy shooting activities on:
