The Scarborough Rifle Club (est. in 1964) is, some might say, the best smallbore rifle club in the Toronto area. We have a beautiful clean range, and friendly helpful members all dedicated to the safe enjoyment of target shooting with .22 caliber rifles, air rifles and air pistols.
Membership is available to any responsible person from age 12 on up. This is a well supervised and run range. All shooting is done with range officers in attendance and all members must pass a safety course when joining the club.
Coaching is available to those members who desire it. There are also regular club and provincial level competitions run during the winter months.
The club has equipment such as rifles, spotting scopes, mats, kneeling rolls and the like available for members to use.
The SRC operates out of the range at the Don Montgomery Community and Recreation Center located just east of the Kennedy subway station at Kennedy and Eglinton. During the winter the club meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings with junior coaching Friday evenings. The SRC is one of the member clubs of the Metro Toronto Smallbore Rifle League.
The smiling picture here is SRC club member Maureen Spinney. Maureen is a resident of Scarborough, and part of the SRC coaching team. Together with the rest of Canadian National Shooting Team, Maureen proudly represented Canada at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She won a Silver Medal in .22 caliber rifle target shooting, women’s pairs, prone position. Maureen also competed in the 1999 Oceania Shooting Championships in Sydney, Australia. Although not as successful as in Kuala Lumpur, in Australia Maureen shot her international personal best both in prone and 3P positions. SRC is very proud of Maureen’s accomplishments and wish her similar successes in the future.
The Scarborough Rifle Club welcomes new members to its modern range. Come for a visit and take a look around (check the schedule to see when the range is open).
