Metro Sporting Rifle League

 Rules and Regulations

  1. Each team may field 10 shooters at any one match.
  2. Competitors must declare for whom they will be shooting before the first match they shoot. 
    Competitors must declare, at the beginning of the season, which type of rifle they will be shooting.
    Competitors may not change rifle types during the season.
  3. In each relay, only the five highest scores will count for each team, except where stated in rule 4.
  4. If a team has only four shooters, then the scores from the four shooters will counts as will the top four scores from the opposing team.
  5. If a team has less than four shooters, then the dummy score will be 85x0.
  6. If at any time a shooter scores less than 85x0, then a score of 85x0 will be used if that score is to count as one of the top four or five. However the actual score must be recorded.
  7. Each competitor's score must be reported to the Match Chairman as soon as possible after the match.
  8. No pre-shot or postal targets will be allowed without the prior consent of both team captains before they are shot.
  9. Awards will be presented for the Highest Individual Overall Score for the year, the Highest Individual Average Score for each team, and up to 10 individual awards for the Winning Team in each division as limited by rule 11.
  10. The Highest individual Overall Score will be tallied by taking the total of all matches attended. The Highest Individual Average Score is based upon the competitor's seven best scores.
  11. Eligibility for a team award is to be decided by the team captain. The only stipulation being that the persons picked must have attended a minimum of 75% of all available matches. Additional awards may be awarded at the discretion of the board.
  12. Scoring will be done by overlay only. 
    Match Rifle targets will be scored as Match Rifle, without the benefit of X's. 
    In the event of a challenge, plugging may be done at the match only upon consensus of both team captains.
  13. No communication between scorers and the shooter is allowed, unless the shooter is challenging a score.
  14. 10 shots per relay, 2 relays per match, S.F.C. target #134 is to be used for both Sporting Rifle and Match Rifle at 60 foot and 50 foot ranges.
  15. Each competitor is allowed two free cross-fires on his/her self per match. Each subsequent crossfire will be accessed a penalty of one point.
  16. 5 points will be awarded for each match as follows:
    1. 2 points will be awarded for each relay. This will go to the team with the highest score for the top 5 (or 4) shooters in the top 10 on the team.  In the case of a tied score, one point will be awarded to each team
    2. 1 point will be awarded for the aggregate. This will go to the team with the highest aggregate score for both relays. If there is a tied aggregate score then one half point will be awarded to each team.
  17. The captain of the visiting team is to contact the other captain one week in advance to confirm the match. A match may not be rescheduled within one week of the match date, except in the case of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Any team who does not arrive at the match will be in default, and forfeit the match. The team that is present must still shoot and submit the scores.
  18. S.F.C. rules will apply, unless superseded above.
  19. Ties at the end of the year will be decided as follows.
    • Most points awarded in head to head competition.
    • If there is still a tie then the win will go to the team which scored the higher total points in the 4 matches.
    • If there is still a tie then the win will go top value for the highest average of the average of the top 5 trophy qualified shooters from the two teams.
