CANADIAN SHOOTING SPORTS ASSOCIATION
OUTDOOR PROVINCIAL RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAPLE LEAF MARKSMEN CLUBJUNE 22 & 23, 2002 - SFC #4982

We had another good match - the best turnout in many years, fine weather (though Sunday got a little warm and humid), and a fine facility that the Maple Leaf Club (read Jack Clinton) has created in St. Catharines. (A little note for the future: Norm Botts tells me they have been approved for a Trillium grant and their washroom facilities will be much improved next time.)

As usual I have to thank all the officials who kept things running smoothly - Bonnie Gauthier, Mike Bennett, Jack Clinton, Berni Minegarten, Jack Hazell, Steven Spinney, Clare Maitland, Lois McNaught, Norm Botts, Charlie Burbank, Bill Bowers, Cindy Hornby, Jean Barber, Nick Ozolins, Ed and Albert Beauchamp and Rick Witusik. With help like this my job is a lot easier.

We managed to hand out nearly all the trophies and medals at the match Sunday afternoon - the few we could not will be in the mail this week. We make up personalized labels for the medals (with the recipient's name as well as the award info) but cannot get this completed in time for the award presentations; therefore we provide blank Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and include the label with this results bulletin. We request the recipients to place the label on the back surface of the medals.

Note: somehow we got some Handgun Gold medals mixed in with the Rifle medals, and I think maybe 4 or 5 were passed out Sunday. These have the word HANDGUN on the front instead of RIFLE. If you received one or more of these please contact me (Lou Anderson, #311- 1712 Main St. W., Hamilton, Ont. L8S 1G7: 905-529-6924: louander@interlynx.net) and I'll send you the correct medal. Don't worry about sending back the Handgun medal.

Provincial Champions in the match were as follows:

ISSF Prone - Iron Sights    Glynn Loftin      590
ISSF Prone - Any Sights     Grzegorz Sych      584

Note this is the first year we have declared a Hunting Rifle Champion. Those are all good scores, but unfortunately none of them are match records.
