The annual ORA Fall Match was held at the Barriefield Range, Kingston, over the weekend. Saturday was overcast with a little drizzle, but Sunday was sunny and warm. There was a fickle fishtail wind, which kept one on one's toes, especially on Sunday. The entry was a bit larger than in recent years, with some welcome new faces from the Kingston area. The range, as always, was in great shape, the lush grass on the firing points putting most other, more 'celebrated', ranges to shame. Dave Steed was the match organizer, with Frank Jermey serving as the Range officer, giving up his shooting all weekend. The markers are to be specially commended, since three of them had to work four targets - with fifteen round matches and squadding in threes, they had to work very hard, and they performed excellently!

Mike Chung won the F(F) Class,

Mike Wong Shui the TR Aggregate. Mike won by three clear points, dropping only two in the 450 point aggregate - a very fine performance.

The Fall Match at Kingston was fired over Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18 respectively. Although the weather on Saturday threatened to run away with the matches sort of like Norm Barber’s efforts in F-class… it didn’t and he didn’t. Tis true, ya got that Final Aggregate… but the gap is shrinking Norm! Sunday was a great weather day with sun and a bit of high cloud; cumulous what-cha-ma-call-its something or other according to Norm. But I think we were all more interested in what was happening at ground zero with the wind! On Saturday the wind was coming directly at us breaking right or left. On Sunday the wind was from behind us breaking right or left. We had a great crowd, a turnout of 25 shooters for the match from various walks of life. We only had 3 markers for four targets but they did a great job keeping up so “double compliments” to all of them. Many thanks, to Dave Steed and Frank Jeremy for organizing and running the festivities.
