ONTARIO RIFLE ASSOCIATION
121st ANNUAL MATCHES
MONS RANGE, CFB BORDEN, ONTARIO

Friday 9th August

The Gibson has a three-way tie, to be shot off Saturday morning. A beautiful sunny day - warm, but not too humid - with a testing wind, especially at 1000 yards! All in all, Borden was at its best. The GB Team are shooting very well, but Ontario shooters took two of the five first places. Click on the result links below for the details.

The Gibson (10 at 300 yards)

The Bankers' (10 at 500 yards)

The President's (10 at 900 yards)

The Long Branch (10 at 1000 yards)

The Friday Aggregate

The Junior Greenshot Match

Saturday 10th August

The GB Team continued to shoot very strongly in warm conditions. The wind was again fairly light, but variable, changing quite quickly.

50 TR shooters and 6 F Class will shoot in the  Lt. Governor's Final tomorrow afternoon. With some checking still to be done, it looks as if the cutoff score (last in) for TR will be 184.11/200 and for F 218/240.

John Pugsley from the GBRT leads the Mercer (Grand) Aggregate at this stage.

Several tie shoots are needed to sort out the winners - where in either TR or F Class the top scores are equal, there will be a tie shoot. The scoring program is being a little stubborn and insists on doing the count backs. before the tie is resolved. So, all 50.8s or 56s or whatever will shoot off for the first place in the requisite class.

The Tait (10 at 300 yards)

The Brassey (10 at 500 yards)

The Macdonald Stewart (10 at 600 yards)

SUNDAY 11th August

John Pugsley capped an excellent weekend of shooting by winning the Mercer Memorial Aggregate (the ORA "Grand") and the Lt. Governor's Match at Borden today. It was a warm one - with increasingly gusty and fickle winds in time for the Lt. Gov. Final at 1000 yards in the afternoon. The GBRT, not unexpectedly, did very well. Monday sees the big team match between Ontario and GB.

Monday 12th August

Great Britain beat Ontario by a handy margin today to win the Canadian Pacific International Team Match. This concluded the 121st Annual Prize Meeting of the ORA. In blistering 39 degree heat, with a light but changeable wind, GB scored 2634.233 to Ontario's 2568.193. GB dropped only three points out of 900 at 600 yards, and steadily built up a commanding lead at 900 and 1000. It was a well earned victory in trying conditions. We now have a few days' rest before the start of the DCRA this Friday.
